Something like Meditation

This poem is dedicated to my favourite part of the day in the past four years. The hour before and after college, in the bus. It might sound like I thought of only serious things! But I also enjoyed the sunset from the highway and have several blurred shots of it on my phone, rejoiced knowing what I was having for dinner and even relished some snacks by either my mumma’s or canteen’s courtesy. The best thing is that I built my whole music library and today when I listen to any of these songs, I get transported to my time in the bus. Most people find daily commute stressful and trivial but I have often found bliss in this triviality, probably because I was not the one driving!

Affixed on the seat,
By the window,
I never minded rain, cold or heat;

Evenings it calmed, mornings it kicked off!
While the seat remained steady,
The bus moved around the busy city,
And my mind wandered off,
To abstract places vicariously,
Throughout the journey!

Misty mornings, quiet time,
Reading, revising, contemplating at its prime;
Listening to the strings,
Brought me focus,
To study and to bring,
Ideas to a mental locus;

When the sun went down,
And the daily chatter lulled,
Conversations in my mind came alive!
Sometimes I thought,
Of aspirations and dreams,
Sometimes I weeped and dulled,
Of incapabilities to thrive.
Other times, with hope I was agleam,
Or just foot-tapping with content,
To the joy that music brought.
And felt the blissful existence of my moody self around!

When the breeze touched my face,
And the music whispered into my ears,
I forgot all my anxiety and fears!
And felt the presence of my mind,
Slipping into a peaceful headspace,
Alive, aware and free to unwind.
