Are we ready yet?

Queues, hustle bustle and crowds,

Cheers, whistles, loud music and sounds;

Tickets all booked,

Popcorn’s all cooked;

Pavilion with snacks and drinks all poured;

Face tattoos and cheer all aboard,

Chanting their ways in long lines,

Sweating away with faith to visit the shrines;

Amidst the lights, smells and sounds,

Balloons adrift, rides and stalls all around;

Frenzied halls and bandstands,

Intoxicating music and dance;

Bargains here and there,

Fresh food in the Bazaar everywhere;

Few to none standing in places,

Where long queues all stood;

Where did they all go?

Snuggled in their blankets at home,

On screens they now scroll to roam;

Tangible world was out on foot,

Now it’s all decked up at one’s doorstep,

Work, study, recreation all virtually adept,

Reality now, a surreal experience afoot.

The real world is still non-fungible, isn’t it?

Going out is still a trend,

Now accompanied by our facial friend.

Lifting bans, changing rules, are we ready?

Are we ready or still fore-looking?

To a resumed world,

Fearless of queues of ambulances,

Fearless of lines of undiagnosed disasters,

Fearless of a sneeze,

In an organised chaos?
